The Beam team got up early this morning as the Olympic Torch was passing through Angel High Street at 08.30 am. The sheer excitement was definitely present. As the sponsors came down the street blasting music, people were cheering joyfully. Whilst there has been a lot of controversy and criticism around the 2012 Olympics, patriotic pride was definitely present amongst the crowd. So being in London during the Olympics is not so bad after all, and who knows whether we will ever have another opportunity to see the flame? It’s history in the making, and Beam wouldn’t have missed that for anything. And let’s face it, the 2012 Torch is a showcase of great British design (winner of Design of the Year 2012), and we should be proud.
